Tis the Season!

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

This time of year is simply the best.
And I always get the Christmas blues when it is over.
So to make it extra worthwhile this season, we have tried to do something festive if not everyday, then at least on the weekends.
We started the Elf on the Shelf tradition that my Mom bought for us last year.
It is more for our future kids, but may as well start now :)
And of course Jason named him Hans...he wants nothing more than to name our first boy Hans, so I'm letting him get it out of his system so when the time does come, he'll hopefully be over that name. ;)
Although this is not our first Christmas being married, this is our first Christmas tree!
We went to the LA temple to look at the lights.
So pretty.
We've been getting our Christmas shopping on, and let me tell you, we are finished!
Ahh, feels so good.
Jason really wanted these glasses/mustache thing.
We made some sugar cookies, that were gone 3 days later..
(cookies are my weakness)
I still have some crafty crafts in mind that I want to do, but that will have to wait until after finals.
Tis the season!!

He Doesn't Mind One Bit

Thursday, December 1, 2011

The 9323981871164th reason why I love this boy
is because he does masks with me.
and lets me wax his nose hairs.
and doesn't mind one bit.

Thanksgiving

Sunday, November 27, 2011

We traveled a whole hour home to be with our families on Thanksgiving.
(we love that they both live so close..we are thankful for that)
We started off our the holiday Thursday morning with the annual Dana Point Turkey Trot 10k.
I talked this guy into doing it with me :)
He's my favorite running buddy.
Sidenote - does anyone else get frustrated because you run as much as you can to train, and your man hasn't ran in months and is in way better shape than you? I seriously don't understand it.
Along with my cute sister in laws
 SO happy its done!
(my face..I know..)
Went to Gma & Gpa Kimball's for Dinner with the whole Kimball clan
(all 40 of them)
Had to stop by the traditional Fashion Island Christmas Tree

Took advantage of the 80 degree weather and hit up our favorite spot.
Jason surfed all day long and was loving it.
Pictured below is brother Casey Kimbs skimmin it up.
Prettiest sunset from Top of the World in Laguna.
This picture doesn't give it nearly enough justice.
And ended our weekend with these yummy cookies.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
We are already counting down till Christmas.

Oh, Ellen

Friday, November 18, 2011

I got tickets to Ellen a few months ago, and the day had finally came.
I love Ellen.
Featured guests were Selena Gomez & Robin Williams.
We got to go to a private screening before of Happy Feet Two.
And maybe I was picked to go on stage and dance by myself....to win this shirt.

A Lesson to be Learned

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

DISCLAIMER: This might be TMI for some people..so if it is too much for you, no need to continue reading.

I usually don't write about this kind of thing, but I feel like I've had a life changing experience.
Call me dramatic, it's the truth.
It all started Saturday.
I had an ingrown hair and me being the "picker" that I am, made things worse.
Wait, did I say that it's in my nose? Oh yeah. It's in there.
It started to hurt really bad & was getting a little red.
Didn't think too much of it. Thought it would be better in the morning.
But every hour, my nose was swelling up more & more.
& started moving up my face to my eyes.
Thee most painful thing EVER.

Went to the pharmacy and the pharmacist immediately told me it is definitely a Staph infection.
What in the world?
Went to the Urgent Care last night, got some stronger antibiotics.
Every morning my face looks different than it did when I went to bed.
I have read some horror stories about Staph infections and how if it gets bad enough, they can be fatal.
I know that is very rare, but still!
I have been scared out of my mind for the last 4 days, but I know it won't get to that.
I'm just a little freaked out.
I know it will get better. It is now just a waiting game.

This trial has made me so grateful for so many different things. Never again will I complain about anything I don't like about myself. I am healthy and able and that to me, is good enough.
Jason has been nothing but comforting and is helping me kick this infection in the butt.
That is why he is my best friend.
Lesson learned.
{Okay, can I have my face back now?}

10 DIY Beauty Recipes

Saturday, October 8, 2011

Jason is at the UCLA game tonight with co-workers and I am home studying like there is no tomorrow.
(yes, I realize it's a Saturday night...and I am at home..studying)
That being said,  I need a break from this nonsense. So, I decided to post these at-home remedies to cure anything you got going on.
For smoother lips, hands, feet...or maybe you just want to take a nice relaxing bath.
Your choice.

1. Brown sugar + milk = body exfoliator
2. Yogurt + honey = sensitive-skin and redness remedy
3. Safflower oil + sunflower oil = scalp treatment
4. Petroleum jelly + raw, unrefined sugar = lip scrub
5. A dash of salt + water = surf spray for hair
6. Rosewater + coconut milk = relaxing bath
7. Warmed-up olive oil = prewash treatment for hair
8. Green tea + water = toner
9. Lemon juice + chamomile tea = hair lightener
10. Epsom salt + almond oil + cinnamon oil + sandalwood oil + allspice oil = hand and foot scrub
Roughly equal proportions for all

Tried & True by yours truly:

The Weekend

Monday, October 3, 2011

We headed down south for the weekend to spend time with both of our families. The weather was incredible so without question, we hit the beach first thing Saturday morning.

These are our "sister rings" -  got them in 2003 & hasn't left my finger since.
Love my sissies:)

Conference time. Found this cute journal for $1.00 at Michael's.

Got to cuddle with Quincy Bear. Can't get enough of this sweet girl.

It was so nice on Sunday & all our cars were in need of a wash.

Sunday dinner outside in my parents courtyard & these 2 were the center of attention.

I live for these kinds of weekends.
