Sunday morning, not only did i wake up to the sound of pouring rain, but to people yelling and cheering. then i remembered, LA MARATHON!
I hopped out of bed as fast as i could put on my sweatshirt, grabbed my umbrella, and ran out the door. the marathon went right through our neighborhood. i joined the cheering crowd as i saw these people in wheel chairs racing. i was in shock. some of them without a leg, or no legs at all. others unable to use them. i'm not going to lie, i saw these people and got all choked up. i love when i see such motivated people doing something that others tell them they can't.
i hurried and called jason to tell him to get out of bed.. he wouldn't want to miss this!
We were at mile 21. so as of then, this was the first place runner with cameramen in the back of a truck in front of him. not to mention a helicopter overhead..it was a big deal.
here he comes..
followed by 2nd, 3rd, & 4th place - all women.
maybe i'll be a part of the marathon next year??
baby steps..
The finish line was right in front of our place... we we're obsessed! screaming and cheering! I seriously got so emotional when this blind man ran across the finish line!
ReplyDeleteJoel and I are now working on a halfy! (like you said, baby steps)
